Sparkasse Trier and Hand aufs Herz Bring Eight AEDs to the Region

Sparkasse Trier has partnered with local association Hand aufs Herz Trier e.V. to install eight publicly accessible AED cabinets at central locations across Trier and the surrounding Trier-Saarburg district, strengthening emergency cardiac response across the region.

We want to ensure that every second counts when an emergency strikes.

Eight new AED cabinets strengthen emergency care across Trier

Each year, sudden cardiac arrest claims thousands of lives across Germany. Survival rates drop sharply with every minute that passes without defibrillation, making public access to AEDs one of the most effective ways to improve outcomes. In the Trier region, a new initiative is changing that picture.

The project places eight Rotaid 24/7 AED cabinets at key locations throughout the city and district. In Trier itself, units are installed at the Regionalcenters on Theodor-Heuss-Allee, in Trier-Ehrang, Trier-Tarforst, and at the Viehmarkt. The surrounding district is covered by installations in Saarburg, Schweich, Konz, and Hermeskeil. All cabinets are mounted on the exterior of Sparkasse buildings, making them accessible at any hour of the day or night.

Hand aufs Herz Trier e.V. manages the installation and ongoing maintenance of each unit, while Sparkasse Trier funds the project through donations and provides the building space and power supply. The initiative forms part of the association's broader "Trier SCHOCKT" programme, which combines publicly accessible AED infrastructure with first-aid education in schools and community organisations.

Ensuring AEDs are reachable around the clock is a principle at the core of what Rotaid builds. Initiatives like this one in Trier show what becomes possible when local partners commit to making their communities safer, one cabinet at a time.
