Increasing heart safety by making AEDs available 247

Hjertesikker Sone® is a non-profit project from Norwegian NGO: LHL

Their goal is to increase heart safety in society by making defibrillators available where cardiac arrest actually occurs. The project is run without commercial intent, so that all funds and resources are used to save lives.

One of the cities that is currently being transformed into a Hjertesikker Sone is Frederikstad, a city of 81,000 inhabitants located on Norway's southeastern coast, near the Swedish border.

John Olav Nicholson - Head of Resuscitation at LHL

“The cabinets make our AEDs highly visible, during day and night and the remote monitoring guarantees their continuous availability and readiness.”

In Norway, we are good at quickly alerting and starting CPR, but we often lack access to defibrillators near our homes, where the majority of cardiac arrests occur. Therefore, we currently lack one of the three crucial pieces of the puzzle for increased survival – access to a defibrillator in our local communities.
